Build Strength, Burn Fat, and Stay Young with Resistance Training
If you’re still relying on cardio as your main weight-loss tool, it’s time to upgrade your strategy. Lifting weights, paired with proper nutrition, is hands-down one of the most effective ways to burn fat, reshape your body, and stay healthy as you age.
No matter what your age, you can acheive results with this simple formula. The only thing stopping you is what happens between your ears. So stop procrastinating, and stop making excuses of why you can't get to the gym or workout at home (and I've heard them all! Too old, bad knees, bad genetics, bad back, no time, kids sports, my work schedule, blah blah blah...)
Here’s why lifting weights is essential at ANY age:
Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat, which means the more lean mass you carry, the higher your metabolic rate - even while you sleep. Doesn't the idea of being a calorie burning machine sound awesome?!
Strength training preserves and builds muscle, and this is especially important as we age and naturally begin to lose muscle mass. Scary fact: After age 30, our body naturally wants to erode 3-8% of muscle each decade - so you need to build it to keep it!
Improved bone density: Lifting helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures later in life. It also improves joints and tendons over time.
Better posture, core strength, and joint stability, which means fewer injuries and aches as you age. Do you really want to be that old person that falls and breaks their hip?
Of course, it goes without saying that you need to combine your strength training with proper nutrition. Lean proteins, healthy fats, and nutrient-dense carbs all help to create a body that’s not just lean, but strong and resilient.
Focus on how you feel, how you move, and how your clothes fit. Resistance training is how you transform your body - and your life. At Accountable U Fitness, you'll get all the tools you need to look and feel your best - for the rest of your life. Let's get fit together!
